F1 faces huge challenges this season in the face of a major overhaul of its technical regulations, as for the first time the sport embraces hybrid power in a meaningful way. Front Row Group caught up with legendary McLaren-Mercedes driver Jenson Button to hear his thoughts.

FRG: Congratulations to both you and teammate Kevin Magnussen on your 2nd and 3rd places at the Australian Grand Prix, and for taking McLaren-Mercedes to the top of the constructors' championship. How was your first race of the season?

Australia was a really motivational race for the entire team - even though we still have work to do, it feels like we've turned a corner, and that we have a racecar we can definitely work with this year.

It's important that we keep pushing hard on the development front - we brought some useful upgrades to Melbourne, and it was encouraging that they worked straight out of the box, but it's essential that we keep pushing new items through the development pipeline, especially at these flyaway races, where it's harder to bring parts to the circuit.

FRG: The Jenson Button Trust Triathlon is returning for the 3rd year this July, registrations have just recently opened. For both sports you need to maintain a high level of fitness, does training for one complement the other?

Yeah triathlon is something that has become a big part of my life, and of course first and foremost it's something I use to keep fit for my day job! The JBT Triathlon is something I'm so proud of and it's raised a great amount of money for charity in its first two years where we supported Help for Heroes and we're now embarking on a great new partnership with Cancer Research UK which I'm very excited about. There are some places left, so feel free to register at jensonbutton.com - we reward you with a barbecue, live music and cold beer so it's not all pain!

It aims to foster cultural exchange and the flow of ideas whilst developing stronger relations between people, institutions and governments. The scale of the programme across arts, education, language, sport and science is indicative of a huge improvement in cultural relations.

Celebrations will run throughout the whole year, officially launching in April with an exhibition, The Golden Age of the Russian Avant-Garde.

The exhibition is a large scale project, created especially for the big exhibition hall of the Moscow Manege Museum by Peter Greenaway (Great Britain) and Saskia Boddeke (Holland) supported by British Council.

UK-Russia Year of Culture will culminate with an exhibition at the Science Museum London about Russian space exploration, which will include extremely rare artefacts that have never before been seen outside Russia.

On the 26th March, Kuala Lumpur played host to the 2014 Laureus Sport for Good Awards. Three of the most exciting young sports stars of their generation, who have proved world-beaters despite their age, have been honoured, hosted by British actor Benedict Cumberbatch.

Germany's Sebastian Vettel, the youngest four-time Formula One world champion in history at 26, was named Laureus World Sportsman of the Year, US swimmer Missy Franklin, at 18, became the youngest ever winner of the Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year Award, while Spain's Marc Márquez received the Laureus Breakthrough of the Year Award, after winning the World MotoGP Championship at just 20 years and 266 days.

The Laureus World Sports Awards are the premier honours on the international sporting calendar. The winners are chosen by the Laureus World Sports Academy, the ultimate sports jury, made up of 46 of the greatest living sportsmen and sportswomen. Proceeds from the Laureus World Sports Awards directly benefit and underpin the work of the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation. Since its inception, Laureus has raised €60 million for projects which have improved the lives of millions of young people.

The Laureus World Sports Academy presented two additional discretionary Awards. The Laureus Spirit of Sport Award was won by the Afghanistan Cricket Team, who qualified for the Cricket World Cup for the first time in their history, and the Laureus Sport for Good Award was presented to Magic Bus, the sports-based community project in India.

The Awards programme was scaled down following news that tragedy had befallen the missing Malaysian airliner MH370. Chairman of the Laureus World Sports Academy, Edwin Moses, said several events had been put on hold ahead of the Laureus Awards Ceremony, which took place on the 26th March.
